Because I Am Thankful

If you are reading this post, I would like to sincerely thank you.

For several years, I contemplated the idea of starting my own business.  It took so long because I wasn't sure if I could make it going out 'on my own'.

Today marks the 650 day of my self-employment and the reality is, I still don't know if I could make it 'on my own'.  And I am immensely thankful I haven't had to try.

The truth is I have not been alone in this journey at all.  Honestly, much to my surprise, you have been right here with me.  Self-employment has been fuller of community than I had ever dreamed.

My wife and sister have spent hours discussing the finer details of my business with me.  They have in equal parts pushed me and encouraged me.  They have run alongside me from the beginning.

My friends have graciously believed in me, recommending me to their friends and bosses.  They have read my posts and listened to my podcast.  They have kept me going.

My community - both Chattanooga and my fellow freelancers - has warmly welcomed me as a newcomer.  They have opened their doors to me and that's all I could ask for from them.

My clients have been hungry, consistent, trusting, and respectful.  They have dealt with me fairly and paid me promptly.  They have challenged me and together we have done many good things.

For several years prior, my career path looked more like a mine field.  I hoped this season would be different, but I never expected this.

Thank you for the part you are playing in my story and in my family's story.  I will continue to work earnestly and diligently to ensure there is a positive return on your generosity.
